Missouri picked up a big verbal commitment yesterday from three star running back Larry Rountree III from Millbrook High in Raleigh, North Carolina. Rountree’s announcement was made by Millbrook’s Twitter account Friday.

According to Rountree in the video,
“It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to today. All it came down to was finding the right fit. Show me the road to Mizzou, and I will show you what I can do. Go Tigers.”
This season Rountree averaged over 100 yards a game. The Millbrook standout rushed for 1,147 yards on 201 carries with 21 TDs. He had received offers from Boston College, Miami (Ohio) and a few other schools.
It’s not known whether or not Rountree will redsshirt next year. Mizzou has two other running backs already ahead of him on the depth chart, Damarea Crockett and Ish Witter. Witter showed flashes this season of becoming a dominant SEC back with big games against MTSU, South Carolina and Tennessee and will likely have a bigger season next year.
Missouri coach Barry Odom was busy this week, also picking up two other defensive end JUCO commits during the week as well, Rashad Brandon and New and Nate Anderson.
This year Missouri went 4-8 in a rebuilding effort. Next year the Tigers should be better with ten starters returning on offense. A brutal non-conference schedule that included bowl teams, MTSU and West Virginia doomed the Tigers who had to play SEC opponents as well. In 2017 their non-conference schedule is much easier, consisting of Missouri State, Purdue, Idaho and UConn. If they sweep those four games and pick off a couple of SEC foes like Kentucky, Vanderbilt or Arkansas the Tigers will go bowling next year.
